We are expanding our regulatory and compliance capabilities as part of our growth across Europe and are seeking a highly experienced Head of Internal Audit Department to design, establish, and lead our independent audit strategy.

Role Overview 

• The Head of Internal Audit Department will be independently responsible for designing, establishing, and leading the company's internal audit function from the ground up, ensuring absolute operational integrity across all departments.
• In this highly critical executive function, you will maintain a strictly independent and objective role, reporting functionally directly to the Board of Directors and/or the Audit Committee, providing you with full autonomy and separation from day-to-day business operations.
• As a next-generation fintech and digital asset platform, your primary objective will be to proactively safeguard the company by identifying internal vulnerabilities, operational risks, and process deficiencies before they impact our commercial standing or catch the attention of regulators.
• The scope of the audit function will encompass the entirety of the company's activities within Poland exclusively, ensuring robust oversight of local practices while collaborating closely with the Group’s executive management and broader European regulatory functions.
• We are seeking a practical, business-oriented professional who can act as a strategic advisor and work collaboratively with management and various teams, rather than adopting a rigid "policeman" approach. You must translate complex internal assessments into actionable corporate strategies, ensuring that PalWallet's rapid growth remains structurally sound.

  Key Responsibilities

• Audit Plan Ownership: Design, build, and independently execute a comprehensive Annual Audit Plan aligned with local regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
• Targeted Area Auditing: Conduct deep-dive internal audits focusing on core areas: Financial Audit, Operational Audit, Regulatory Compliance, AML/KYC, MiCA frameworks, Fintech & Crypto risks, Corporate Governance, and Risk Management.
• Solo Execution to Team Growth: Function initially as a highly capable independent operator (One-Man Show) with structural support from the Group, while taking responsibility for eventually scaling the department, recruiting, and building out an internal audit team as local operations grow.
• Remediation & Collaboration: Partner with local and global stakeholders to communicate audit findings, draft practical remediation plans, and monitor the timely resolution of identified deficiencies.

Requirements

• Audit Experience: A minimum of 5–8 years of proven track record in internal audit, risk management, or a strictly related control function, including relevant managerial or project leadership experience.
• Languages: Native-level fluency or absolute professional proficiency in Polish is mandatory; high-level business proficiency in English is required.
• Fit & Proper Status: An irreproachable professional reputation, high integrity, and the ability to fully satisfy the KNF’s regulatory standards for senior appointments (including a clean criminal and financial record).
• Core Competencies: Strong capacity for independent work, exceptional critical thinking, high-level interpersonal communication skills, and the agility to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment.

Nice to Have

• Industry Domain Expertise: Strong professional background within FinTech, payments, commercial banking, Electronic Money Institutions (EMI), Crypto, or other strictly regulated financial service environments.
• Professional Certifications: Highly preferred professional credentials and certifications such as CIA, ACCA, CISA, CAMS, or equivalent recognized designations.
• European Regulatory Familiarity: Proven experience working with European regulatory bodies (such as the KNF) and deep structural familiarity with frameworks like MiCA, AMLD, PSD2, and other financial regulations.
